Kaki King

Hailed by Rolling Stone as β€œa genre unto herself,” composer and guitarist Kaki King is a true iconoclast. Kaki King is known for her percussive and jazz-tinged melodies, energetic live shows, use of multiple tunings on acoustic and lap steel guitar, and her diverse range in different genres. Over the past 10 years, the Brooklyn-based artist has released six extraordinarily diverse and distinctive albums, and performed with such icons as Foo Fighters and Timbaland. From 2015 to 2018, The Neck is a Bridge to the Body was Kaki King’s most prolific touring project and adventurous album β€” a provocative and beautiful piece that directly projects visual art onto her guitar β€” which, throughout the course of the piece, becomes her ontological tabula rasa.

Kaki King’s latest work, DATA NOT FOUND, debuted in 2019 directed by Annie Dorsen. It is a contemporary musical and visual journey powered by the study and illustration of data. It explores how big data and personal data have come to affect our lives, and what those effects look and sound like.

β€œI’ve never seen anything like it … a sumptuous feast for the senses, a dizzying display of sound and vision by a guitarist already renowned for her innovation.” – Boston Globe
