With athletic, adventurous work rooted in contact improvisation, Madrid-based Compañía Sharon Fridman has become a leading force in the international contemporary dance scene.
Sharon Fridman’s company was formed in 2006 in Madrid, Spain. The company is directed by Israeli choreographer Sharon Fridman, whose credits include Tadmor Dance Company, Vertigo Dance Company, and Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company. His works has been awarded prizes from the Burgos & New York International Choreography Contest, the Max Award for the Performing Arts, the Choreographic Contest of Madrid, the Tanzplattform Bern 2015, and others.
Sharon Fridman recently made its U.S. debut at Jacob’s Pillow in July of 2018.
The scenes, variations of the basic corporeal themes, eventually create a kaleidoscopic effect. The intricacy of the movement, music and edgy lighting of the space result in a play of interchangeable fragments, which leads to mesmerizing compositional landscapes that are very fetching.
